Step: Two Feet: Mohawk – Forward and Backward Glide Point
Series: Changes of Direction: Using One Foot or Two Feet
Become aware of your existing movement pattern for turning and apply it while using one foot and two feet
What about steps requiring both feet? HOP!
This demonstrates a new way to think about changing direction using two feet. For many people, this will be a different way of describing or learning the Mohawk, so we’ve split it into two parts: an explanation off ice, and then a demonstration (below) to show the exercise.
Once you’re comfortable changing feet using a hop off ice, stand at the boards to do it on ice. Remember to turn your pelvis completely as you change feet. Watch the video demonstration on ice and practice on your own.
